Can I install a pci express video card on a pci ready computer?

I now have a 128mb pci geforce4 mx4000, i want a new 256mb radeon pci express video card|||PCI Express is a slot devrived from PCI technology think of it as a "Update" to the spec

it works like this..

the pci slot has to connect with the rest of the system through the Northbridge chipset which is a chip on your mother board that handles peripheral traffic(video card) on the board

while this will work it is quite slow to today's standard which in turn, came to the invention of the AGP (Accelerated Graphic Port) and eventually the PCI- Express slot which is even faster

Anyways , moving on , the difference is that the PCI-Express slot uses different architecture. and sends and recieves data in a different way from all other slots before it.

It uses "Serial" (multiple bi - way connections) Direct connections while the orginal PCI slot used parrallel connections (one way connections)|||u have to have a pci express slot ... its a totally different bus and if ur pc is more than a couple of years old u dont have it ...|||No PCI Express will not fit in a PCI slot..They are totally different slots. You will need a mobo that has a PCI Express (PCIE) slot to run a PCIE card....Thanks|||a pci express cards is totaly different from agp cards to install a pci express card u need to get another Motherboard with pci express and in that case u may need to change the processor and ram
