Which video card is better for gaming?

I want to know if which video card is better, good for gaming, and works greater on my games. Here are the following video cards:

ATI Radeon X1300 PCI 256MB

or...

nVidia Geforce FX 5500 PCI 256MB

Here are the following games I want one of these video cards to work on:

Battlefield 2

Ghost Recon Advance Warfighter

Crashday

Which card is better? Which card should I buy today? Which card is the best for my games? Thank you for your answer!|||the geforce 5500 is garbage....i used to have one

that ati card should be far superior. has faster core faster memory and should have a newer chipset.

see if you can find an nvidia 7600gs or something for a good price. they arent the best, but much better that those 2|||NONE of those cards are great for games, just maybe solitaire.|||Battlefield 2 - Official system requirements

NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700 or greater

ATI Radeon 8500 or greater

ATI Radeon X1300 PCI 256MB is greater than Radeon 8500.

nVidia Geforce FX 5500 PCI 256MB is less than NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700.|||ATI is said to be better for gameing but no offense those are both retty crappy video cards

Will A Diablotek Radeon 7500 Video Card work in Dell Dimension 2400, in order to use a TV as a monitor?

I want to buy a video card that will make it so I am capable of using my TV as a monitor... I have a Dell Dimension 2400.

The Video card is here

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3281685&body=MAIN#detailspecs

The TV is just a normal TV with the 3 colored input things.... i dont really know what they are called but most TV's have them in the front...

I believe this will work, if I got a cord (w/ adapter) to connect the S-video output to the input of the TV, but just wanted to make sure everything was good.

I was told by someone that I needed a PCI card so I believe this card will work.

Thanks,

Chris|||It will work just fine with that adapter...I have the same setup but different cards and i use it for watching movies....It does not generally have to be pci, it just has to be your primary video card..Happy Modding..

What is the rating scale for radeon video cards?

What would the geforce equivalant to this radeon card:

MSI RX1550-TD256EH Radeon X1550 Support up to 512MB (256MB onboard) 64-bit GDDR2 PCI Express x16 Video Card - Retail|||X1550 is an old card, not quite equal to a Geforce 6600GT.

X1950 = Geforce 7950GT

X2600XT = Geforce 8600GT

3870 = almost equivalent to 8800GT

4850 = better than 9800GT

4870 = in-between the 260 and 280|||More than likely it would be the Nvidia 8500gt

either way i would cry if i had one :-p|||toms hardware has a comparison between nVidia and ATI and their equivalents...

Is the Radeon 5850 video card the same size as a nVidia 8600 gt?

I want to buy a new graphics card but I want to know if it will fit in my pc. I know I will need a new power source, but does anyone know if this card will fit in my pc if my current 8600 can fit just fine. Also if it makes a difference, I'm using a mobo with PCI-E x 16 (not PCI-E 2.0) so will there be a major quality loss?|||You have half the bandwidth of a PCI-Express v2.0 slot but from a physical perspective, the two slots are identical and will accept cards from the other version and run them at PCI-Express v1.0 speed.

NOTE: PCI-Express x16 is NOT a version, it's a slot size number. PCI-Express v2.0's full-size slot is also known as a PCI-Express x16.|||No, Radeon 5850 is slightly longer than the 8600GT, but it is not huge, so I think it should fit.

Dell inspiron 580 desktop upgrading video card?

hello, does anyone know if the XFX HD-585X-ZAFC Radeon HD 5850 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card w/ Eyefinity will fit in a dell inspiron 580? The reviews of the card say it can barely fit in some cases. Also, to open the case, do I need to unscrew some screws? thank you,|||I have a Dell 580 also and the only card that will work is the GeForce GT220 Graphics Card. Not decent card, but not good for any current games. I dont do much gaming on mine, but I do a lot of video editing. The problem is the Dell 580 has a 300 watt power supply. Most of the decent cards require 400+ watts. The Dell 580 is not a gaming mahine.|||That card has a 500 watt minimum power supply requirement.

The Dell Inspiron 580 desktop has a 300 watt power supply. So never mind it fitting, your computer doesn't have enough juice to power that card to begin with.|||No offense mate, but if you are unsure how to even open your computers case, then you should not attempt to replace its graphics card. Either get someone with more experience to do it for you, or don't do it at all.

But to answer your question, since we can't see inside your computers case, we cannot really tell you if the card will fit or not. You'll have to take some measurements yourself, and compare them with the size of the card.

Which video card is better out of these Three?

1.NVIDIA GEFORCE 7300LE PCI 128MB EXPRESS DVI / VGA CARD

2.HIS ATI Radeon 9200 128MB DDR PCI graphics/video card

3.Sapphire Technology Radeon 9250 128MB PCI VO|||The NVidia. I only say that since it is the newer of the cards and more compatible with games. As others have mentioned, these are really bad cards.

For a few bucks more, you could get a nicer card. A 7600GS, while not a great card itself, is twice as powerful. An X800XT is three times as powerful. A 7900GT makes the ones you mentioned look like turtles.|||Honestly they're all pretty crummy, what we need to know is what you're going to be using this video card for.|||hmm..I'd chose the 1st one..but that's just my opinion cause I;ve never had any problems with NVIDIA cards :)|||take the first one,i have nvidia, and i am very hapy...

Will my video card work for Call of Duty 2?

the game will work but future games wont. upgrade to dx10 get radeon 2600 or 2900 they good and cheap

Which video card should I get?

The fan on my video card stopped working and so the video card overheated and now I need a new one. I have a Pentium 4 CPU 3.2 GHz. I used to have a Radeon 9800 xt but I'd like to replace it with something better but I don't know what my computer can handle. Don't know how to find out if I have a AGP or PCI slot and I also don't know how to find how much power my power supply has.|||well a Radeon 9800XT is an AGP 8X card, so my guess is you'll be able to upgrade to an AGP video card......best bang for the buck in my view, its the Radeon HD3850 AGP.....

Will the Radeon HD 4670 video card work on my computer?

I have a Phenom II Quad Core processor, a 1 TB hard drive, and a ASUS M4N68T-M V2 motherboard. The only problem I have is that the Geforce 7025 integrated graphics do not like to play newer games, so I plan on getting a Radeon HD 4670. I have another problem, though. The Radeon HD 4670 is a PCI Express 2.0 card, but my motherboard only has a PCI Express channel... not 2.0. Will the Radeon HD 4670 work on my computer?|||You are confused on what that 2.0 means. The 2.0 is just the version number, and it has nothing to do with PCIExpress compatibility.

Any PCIExpress 16x card will work on any PCIExpress 16x motherboard, regardless of version number. They are all compatible. The running speed will just default to the component with the lowest version number.

The HD4670 will work on your motherboard, which has a PCIExpress 16x slot. I wouldn't buy the HD4670 though, since it is on the edge of obsolecence. Get something more recent like an HD5670 or HD6670.|||backward/forward compatible.

Can a ATI Radeon HD 4670 1GB GDDR3 PCI-E Video Card fit in a hp dv5 laptop?

http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0665000FS10114872&catid=|||No, of course not. First of all, that's a desktop video card. Secondly, you can't upgrade a laptop's video card.

How do I know if my video card is better than NVIDIA GeForce 6600? I have a 256MB ATI Radeon x600 SE?

I have a 256 MB PCI Express x16 (DVI/VGA/Tv-Out) ATI Radeon X600 SE HyperMemory card and for playing Age of Conan it says:

This is the min req: Video card: NVIDIA GeForce 6600 or better

This is the recommended: Video card: NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GTX or equivalent

Anyone know if what I have now is ok? And I can't ask on the forums since you have to buy the game first.|||The X600SE is nowhere near the 6600. It's probably close to the 6500LE.|||Check out the on-board RAM of the card, the clock speeds, the memory clocks, the memory bit type, (ie 256bit etc), the TYPE of on-board RAM, ie DDR2 or DDR3 etc, check all these details for both cards and you should have your answers. :)|||here is a chart of video cards. The further up the list the better the card.

What pci express video card is compatible with my gateway 507gr?

I bought an ATI Radeon X300 LE 256 meg card that is PCI-express x16, which is what my computer is supposedly compatible with, and I upgraded my power supply to 400 watts, 50 above what is recommended for this video card, and it won't work at all.. I'm thinking that this card might not be compatible with this version of the PCI-Express chipset or whatever, but I can't find out anywhere what card would be compatible with it...|||Uh, did you enable the PCI-E port in the BIOS?? It has integrated graphics and won't work until that is disable and the otherone disabled.

Gateways is one of the most non-compatible brands made, but if it has a slot in there it should work.

How do I install an ATI Radeon X1300 Pro 256 MB PCI-Express Video Card in my HP Pavilion Laptop?

Do I just slide it in somewhere or what? I want to be able to play Via Domus and my computer doesnt support it. I want to order the video card but i dont want to get screwed and not be able to install it, or it end up not working.|||Laptops, for the most part, do not have interchangeable parts. Especially not graphics cards.

That card you mentioned is for a desktop PC.|||for laptops you normally cannot change the graphics card at all.|||Laptops are not meant to be upgradeable, generally the only thing you can upgrade on a laptop is your ram.

Sorry to break it to you but a laptop dosen't even have room to fit a pci express video card. That card is for a desktop pc.

You could look into buying an external graphics card though...

How do I install my new Radeon HD AGP 3850 Video Card?

I already removed my old card from the AGP slot in my desktop. I had to move my sound card PCI down a slot, but changed nothing else. I put the card in, and connected the DVI port/ the other port with a DVI female end to my monitor, and the system sound like it booted a little bit, but I see nothing on the screen.

I tried connecting to onboard video by plugging into the computer's VGA slot. No dice either way, nothing on the monitor.

Should I try something else or just put the old card back in?|||1. try to disable the onboard card from the BIOS.

2. double check your monitor to assure it is looking for the digital signal.

3. reseat your card.

4 try a regular 15 pin analog cable.|||So I didn't install the drivers for the new card before I put it in, and I tried putting the old card back in, but since I uninstalled the drivers for that, it doesn't work either. Any ideas? I tried going with onboard VGA, but that also gave me no image, and I need to access the BIOS to change it

It should at least show something when the computer is turned on, if it doesn't the card may be broken (DOA; Dead On Arrival).

Put the old card back and see if your computer still works properly..

You did unplug the mains when swapping the cards?|||Try entering the BIOS and check to see if the is a setting that selects type of video adapter. You are probably set to AGP, and need to change to PCIe, or PCI depending on which type of card you are attempting to install. To do this you will probably need to reinstall your old card so that you have video to preform this operation.|||1. Video card drivers must be installed BEFORE you install the card.

2. Some LCD monitors when seeing a change in video source will show black screen. Turn off the LCD and then turn it back on.

3. Disable any on-board video devices in the control panel before installing a new external/slotted card.

4. Make sure your power supply can handle the new card.

Good Luck and take care!|||Get the card with faster memory clock and core clock speed|||Tom's Hardware has a video card comparison feature. They don't have the 6600 with 256MB, but they also don't have the x1650 with 512MB.

Use the link I have below. While neither card was there, they do have multiple versions of each.

Play with the different versions of both, and check different benchmarks. Pitting the slowest x1650 and fastest 6600, the Radeon still is better...

On dell support i found that i am able to buy video cards in the 4000 series with pci?

i have some ati radeon video cards that say HD4650, and 4350 which are in the 4000 series. can i buy any ati radeon video card that has (pci) or do i stick within the 4000 series.|||be advised though , if you are going to get a higher end video card that you might need to replace the power supply also. high end vid cards use quite a bit more power and some have extra power connections which your power supply might not have|||no, you can buy any PCI-E 16x graphics card.

You can put any of the current graphics cards from ATI and Nvidia in your pc. Of course, your power supply does limit what can be run.

Don't buy from Dell though. If you are thinking of buying another graphics card, then buy one from an actual computer store or website. The reason for this is that Dell normally cost alot more.|||If they said pci then you can buy any pci card either geforce or ati/amd. pci express video cards are not compatible with pci slots so do not buy one if you do not have a pci express slot.

They're $100 brand new on Newegg; I put one in my source! Yes, it would be good for any games out there when run on medium details though.

Other cards that are faster and still less than $150: Radeon HD 6790, Radeon HD 6850, Radeon HD 6870; GeForce GTS 450, GTX 460, GTX 550.

For any of these video cards, make sure your power supply is no less than 400 Watts. If it's under 400, then you're looking at a power supply upgrade, too. Corsair and Antec are always the two brands that I recommend to people upgrading their video cards due to their reliability and stability.

In response to Joel: there is no such thing as a computer "built" for one video card or another. If you have a PCI-E x16 slot (and you do) then any video card that fits will work.|||I have had the best luck with Nvidia cards. In my experience they blow the other graphic cards out of the water especially the new ones. However, your system seems like it was specially built for the ATI Radeon cards. Look up your motherboard specs and see if it can support Nvidia cards because that's what I would get, but to run current games your system should be more than sufficient for many years.|||GPU buyers guide

Hey guys, just bought a new video card for my computer, but it seems not to be working. So i posted the specs of my comp here........... plz help!

If a video card fits in a motherboard, it works on that motherboard.

What you might want to check is that the monitor is plugged in to the video card, not to any on-board video port. Also check that the monitor is plugged in to the power outlet and is turned on. Basic troubleshooting step, I know.

Failing that, be sure that the video card is powered from your PSU. It should have a power jack for a 6 or 8 pin power connector.

What is the best PCI video card? Radeon X1550 or HD 2400Pro?

I need the best PCI video card for gaming. I know that the PCI

interface is horrible for gaming, but this is for a little experiment of mine. It looks like PowerColor just put out a Radeon HD 2400Pro for the PCI bus. Before I was looking at getting HIS Hightech's X1550. Here are the specs for both cards:

If anyone knows for a fact which one is better for gaming please let me know. And once again, I know that PCI bus is definitely not the way to go for serious gaming. This is for my own kicks. Which is the best? And what PCIe cards perform similarly to these PCI cards? Thank you.|||Speed wise they are pretty similar in their clock speed, their fill rates and their memory bandwidth.

Which is better, kind of splitting hairs on that one. I would personally choose the HD2400 Pro as I've put a couple in systems I've built and am using one now. I have played a couple of games on them but nothing too taxing. The biggest advantage of the HD2400 is for HD video playback which it is awesome at while the 1550 will suck at it.

Past that the HD2400 uses a smaller die (65nm vs 80nm) which means it will make less heat and use less power. Both good things in my books.

That PCI bus is a real dog for video though. Just so you are aware before you try and use it:

Max throughput to PCI bus is 133MB/sec

Max to an AGP 8x card is 1024MB/sec

Max to a PCIe card is 2048MB/sec

Max to a PCIe 2.0 card is 4096MB/sec

That 133 bottleneck is pretty stiff compared to the regular PCIe bottleneck of 2048.

Your call though and that HDMI output on the 2400PRO can make a huge difference if you are trying to make a multimedia machine.|||Better get Powercolor HD 2400 Pro this have more smaller nm.U must know, the specs of graphic card not only on its specations but also on nanometer cause the smaller nm,the powerful graphic card.

Do I need to uninstall CCC before upgrading my ATI Radeon video card?

Both cards are relatively new, both PCI express. If I uninstall CCC, can I just re-run the CCC I downloaded a month ago to detect this new card?

I'd just like to power down and swap cards, but is that adviseable? Would CCC detect the new card automatically?|||You can power down and swap. Windows will detect the new card but might not be able to install. Once you run the ATi install, it will update Catalyst Control Center, install the drivers needed by windows, and prompt for a restart. Restart it again, you are done and fresh with ATi video power;)

***

Power down, swap cards, fire up, install the CCC for newer card, it will install drivers and ask to restart. After that, it'll pop up again and you'll be good to go. CCC installer will update the current CCC to the new one.

This is the case because updates work the same way. You have download a full CCC and install, restart when prompted, and then you'll be running the new CCC.|||Reliability and dependability.. ATi and AMD for the win;) You are welcome and thanks for the vote;)

What video card should i buy for my HP Pavilion Slimline s3652uk?

Does getting a HDMI Video Graphics Card make the picture a lot better?

I just bought a LG 22' monitor. It has HD capabilities. I went to the store to be a dvi d cable but I did not see a change. Then my friend told me that buying a new video card like Radeon 512MB PCI Express HDMI Video Graphics Card will make a big difference and I will be able to see the picture clearer. Is this true?|||DVI-D and HDMI carry the exact same digital video signal, with enough bandwidth for 2560x1600 @ 60 Hz. It would make no difference. Either one would provide an improvement in sharpness over VGA when connected to a LCD monitor, though the improvement might not be detectable for lower-resolution LCDs.|||Yes, it works just like a TV with HD would.|||Not really. DVI will transfer the same as HDMI when it comes to computer graphics. Maybe later on down the road...

But compared to VGA.. HDMI and DVI will look tons better.|||No DVI is just as good as HDMI, the only difference is that HDMI carries audio as well as video.

|||Hi. That card is pretty low end by today's standards. The PCIe cards can be faster depending on you CPU speed, but "ya pays ya money and ya takes ya choice"|||You have PCI, not PCI-express. PCI is the worst possible thing to have. In order to use PCI-express you have to change the motherboard. BF2 is a serious game, a PCI will probably not do it even though it is above the minimum, it just doesn't have the speed that AGP (up to 8X) and PCIe (16X) have.

What is the best video card that will go on a PCI bus adapter?

I want a video card that will work for my new game (Neverwinter Nights 2). It requires at least 256MB card, but recommends a 512MB one, so I would like a 512 one that supports Shader Model 3.0.

ATI's X1950, on the other hand, is the fastest single-core video card on the market today.

But, do you really want to invest in any video card that can't support DirectX 10 when it debuts in the next couple of months? If possible, try to hold off until those cards come out. Personally, I'd hate to spend all that money on a DX9 card.|||Some of those look like AGP adapters.

Don't you mean PCI Express?

Don't see how you'd ever find a PCI card that would accomodate 256+ MB of video RAM.

At any rate, (IMHO) if you're looking for hard core gaming cards, stick with NVidia!

How do you hook up a pci express video card *HD radeon 2400 pro*?

I cant figure it out if its just put it in the slot and go? or is there a trick to it?|||Put it in the slot, and verify that you don't need an extra power connector. Fancy cards require additional power, and will have a squarish connector (or sometimes two or three) on the card into which you must plug a power cable. The appropriate cable and connector should be present on your power supply; if it's not, you might need a bigger power supply. Without this extra power, the card may not work, or it may work only in a degraded mode.

Once you have the card installed, be sure to install drivers for it. If the card is replacing a different one, uninstall the drivers for the old one before you install the new card and drivers.

Im wondering if its really going to make a difference because I worried my cheap card will bottleneck it no matter what.|||I would agree. I don't even think most cards use the full 16x I think I heard they use something around 12x speed. (maybe who knows). But I doubt your card would ever reach the full 16x.

Would it be worth upgrading, I don't know!|||ur card is wayyy to cheap / underpowered for u to see ANY difference. they cost $50 brand new... not enough processing power or memory for you to see the difference. even on new cards... benchmarks have not shown a significant differnce in frame rates between 8x and 16x. get a new card.|||Nope...no difference. It says your DX2000 uses a 865GV motherboard, which has NO dedicated graphics card slot (no AGP, no PCIExpress). It only has three molasses-slow non-express PCI slots clocked at 33mHz.

Don't even think of buying a non-express PCI graphics card. Those are horribly bottlenecked by the PCI slot's 33mHz transfer speed and will actually be SLOWER than your 865GV's on-board graphics. They are not worth the paper box they are packaged in.

That DX2000 is utterly outdated and absolutely un-upgradeable. Just donate it to a worthy cause, take the tax deduction, and get a better computer that uses PCIExpress.|||Protip: There's no such thing as an ATI Radeon 9600 XT. The 9000 series is by Nvidia.

Hope I helped.|||I checked HPs web site and I haven't found anything about what type of video it uses, The slot on the motherboard what color was it? If its brown it would be AGP, if its blue or black that would be PCI-e. I'm guessing that its an old pc from 2004-05 so, it probably only supports AGP.

I got your email, but every time I get a message from another user and reply to it I get a mail demon error so, I can't reply to messages. The white slot is a PCI slot and is very very old. If your Radeon is PCI-e its going to fit because its a totally different bus.

I wanted to know how well or how badly this video card would play a game such as Call of duty modern warfare 2. And if it it is awful or wont play at all could you direct me to a page with a PCI-E video card that would play it well if at all?|||The 9600 pro is a bad card for this day and age. i would strongly suggest getting a 4850 *http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102824&cm_re=4850-_-14-102-824-_-Product* or the best card your motherboard can support. ( 9600 wont play mw2, maybe on low settings. 4850 will play it med to high depending on your processor)

Is this video card compatible with this computer?

So, here's the graphic's card: 128mb PCI Express x16 (DVI/VGA/TV-out) ATI Radeon X300 SE Hyper Memory. Also here is the desktop computer: HP Pavilion P6210F. Also, any advice about changing graphics card would be appreciated.|||All the newer cards say last 4 to 5 years are pci express x16. If you have the right slot on your mobo you can use it. You might want to get a better card unless you already have it. Now days good cards have 512mb to 1gb video memory. Just touch the case before you touch anything inside the pc after you power it off and unplug the power cord. Push the card firmly in all the way in the only slot it fits in. If it has a 4 or 6 pin power cord plug in plug the power into there. Turn it on when installed and download the cd to install the software for the card.|||I don't know, but you could ask some retail stores such as BestBuy to see if it is compatible.|||I see no reason why it wouldn't work.

Only advice I have is to make sure you ground yourself. Static discharge is bad.|||One more thing. If your mobo supports PCI exprexx 1.5V and your card is 2.0V, you may over load your mobo.

How do I know what kind of video card I need for my pc?

I've bought two different cards, RADEON 4550 and ASUS AH3450 and neither of these cards fit on my motherboard. The RADEON would have because it is a pci express connection but when I try to connect it to the motherboard the out ports are on the inside of the tower....|||If you have a pci express connection, than the RADEON should connect to your motherboard. Are you sure you are connecting it right? All PCIe cards should fit into a motherboard with a PCIe slot.

I'll put a website in the source that is helpful for choosing a video card.

Which of the following graphics cards are better? Nvidia Geforce MX 400 64mb, or ATI Radeon X300 PCI Express?

I don't know much about computers and want to know which of the following graphics cards are better : Nvidia Geforce MX 400 64mb video card, or ATI Radeon X300 PCI Express, OR, Nivida Geforce fx 5200 128mb. I'm thinking of purchasing a computer but I have no idea which one of the 3 computers I have in mind has the best graphics card to play games.|||The ATI Radeon is the best of what you mentioned.

If you purchase a computer, it will have either an (OLD) AGP slot or a PCIe slot. The NVidia cards you referenced are both AGP. The ATI card is PCIe. Be sure you get a card that fits your motherboard. New motherboards are 80% PCIe. The other 20% have no video card slot and rely on IGP (integrated graphics processor) instead of a video card. To be honest, an embedded ATI or NVidia IGP would be about as good as the cards you mentioned.

If you want to play games, I would suggest a better graphics card. Head over to Tomshardware and check out the performance scores to get an idea of what to expect with video cards. There is a good article on what card to buy at each price range.|||they all are horrible. i´d say get a nvidia 8600 or more for good gaming and directx 10 capabilities for games that´ll come out using that.|||My choice is ..........> ATI Radeon X300 PCI Express <........

Compare to Nvidia Geforce MX 400 64mb its better quality and easy supportin and more future....We use PCI Express ,,,its working good.........|||If you playing games, modern games, then none of these.

If your just messing on old games, the X300, dont bother with the other ones, X600 or X700 + are good cards to look as well if your on a budget

I have a eMachine T3120 I was hoping to install a low/medium level video card wanted to know any useful info.?

I know from experience my old HP would not accept an ATI Radeon video card, was just curious if eMachines had anything like that. I know my computer has a few open PCI slots, I also plan to upgrade the RAM but already have the info on that. Any information would be greatly appreciated and help my low budget gaming experience ;d|||Hi John,

Any video card you install needs to match the onboard chipset. So, if the motherboard video chipset is Nvideo, you'll want to purchase a video card with Nvideo chipset. Same goes for ATI.

I just did a google search using 'T3120, video card' as the search criteria. Alot was returned that may be useful to you. Here's the search:

AGP video card to PCI video card...?

I have a Dell Dimension 8200 that I am upgrading. It had an AGP Nvidia 64MB Geforce 4 MX 420 card and I am upgrading to a PCI ATI Radeon X1300 256MB. I guess I screwed up and installed the new ATI card and drivers while the AGP card was still enabled/installed. The computer then thought I wanted to use both cards (for multiple monitors)...I never was able to get any signal from the new ATI card. So then I uninstalled the drivers for the AGP Nvidia card and restarted. I pressed F2 during startup and changed the video choice from AGP to AUTO (that was the only other option shown). Now when I start up, I can't get either card to do anything.

Is there any way to take out both cards and somehow do a hard reset to get things back to normal?

Someone please help...

THANKS!!|||Yes. Turn off computer and unplug it. Look next to battery. You should see 3 or four small pins with a jumper attached to them . Remove jumper . Turn on computer. It may beep but most likely not. Monitor will stay off. Turn off computer. Replace jumper and your AGP card. You may need to go into your device manager prior to all this and remove display adapters as well as any driver packs you have installed. You may have to google your motherboard to find location of your CMOS bios jumper(same tiny jumper different names).|||First of all only one of those cards can run. If you want two to run together they have to be the same model and capable of it. Most cards have two outputs on a single card for two monitors. Second of all the new card is not PCI, it's PCI-express. Big difference. Uninstall all video drivers in safe mode and plug in only the new one. Then install the new card drivers.

What PCI video card will run Warhammer Online the best?

I have a Dell Dimension 3000 with only PCI slots. I need a video card that will run Warhammer even if it's on the lowest quality. I hear that the ATI Radeon 2400 is a good choice but I need to be sure. Some people even told me that a 256 MB video card would run slower than a 128 MB card.

As you can see I'm in quite of a jumble. I meet all the requirements except for the video card says www.canyourunit.com. Also, my current video card is a NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200.

So if someone could please recommend the best video card for my predicament, preferably one of the cards that the game supports as stated in the link below.

http://herald.warhammeronline.com/warherald/NewsArticle.war?id=168|||You should look at the 7200/7300 Nvidias or the 8400GS. I honestly think you will be great with the 256 MB ATi 2400 you won't see the difference besides more memory.

New ATI Radeon video card not working with Dell Optiplex GX270?

I recently bought a PCI video card (ATI RADEON 128mb) so that I can use 2 monitors with my Dell Optiplex GX270. The problem is I get no video. Black screen only. I have tried disabling the on board video, changing the settings in bios. Nothing works. Tried Dell's support site, but nothing works. Anyone with a similar problem have any ideas? Thanks.|||Go to ATI's website and download the drivers for the video card

graphics cards are not meant to be plug and play devices|||Go to Dell and find a BIOS update. I had a similar problem with a Gateway Essential 433 no AGP slot wanted to play some games. I bought a Geforce 4 MX420 PCI card it would not work, updated the BIOS to latest version it worked.

You will have to download the bios update on a floppy or a USB Memory stick.

Can I put a ATI Radeon HD 4670 1GB GDDR3 PCI-E Video Card in my computer?

Is it possible to put this card in my computer because mine is about 2 years old. Here is some info about my comp:

3.07 GHz

1G of Ram

200G Hardrive

ATI Radeon XPRESS 200 Series

Please Help I dont know if my ATI RADEON is built in or not or i have enough power.|||Power shouldn't be an issue (the HD4670 uses very little and doesn't even have a dedicated power connector) but if you're really worried, get the 512mb version.

Having 1gb of VRAM isn't really useful for that card anyway- it only helps at really high resolutions like 1900x1200.

More GDDR3 memory increases a video card's power consumption, but even the 1gb version of the Radeon 4670 should be fine with a 350W psu. The 512mb version is happy with 300W units.

Card manufacturers usually overstate their power requirements a little, since they don't know what else customers have inside their computer cases. They are playing it safe by stating 400 watts. Here's a pretty comprehensive list of video cards' actual power usage:

http://forums.atomicmpc.com.au/index.php…

The HD4670 pulls 47 watts, maximum. All you need is a PCI-E x16 slot.|||Yes, it should work, and it's a great choice.

Don't forget to disable (or set pci-e as primary) your onboard video from within the bios. The 4600 series cards do not need an external power connector, therefore you do NOT need a 500 watt psu. 400 watts is enough. (although a little more is always better!) I checked on the ati site and confirmed that > http://ati.amd.com/products/Radeonhd4600…|||hey tommy ! i think your mother board is the one based on

the dg102ggc2 or the dg101ggc from intel. as far as i have heard

it has a pcie-16 gen1 slot. Open your cabinet's side panel

and try to see a slightly recessed of a different color(usually blue or red). If you can find it , you can buy a radeon 4670 and use it

on your comp. Beware though a need an smps of 500W minimum

. I suggest antec or cooler master true or extreme power series !

Good Luck man !!!|||You have to open up the computer and see if you have a PCIex16 slot available. That would be the first step. If the computer is store bought like a dell, hp, compaq, or gateway you probably can't do it, but if you have a current video card and not an integrated video then you may be in luck.|||The Express 200 series is the chip set of your MB. Looks like you have a PCIe slot.. (black one) As long as you have about a 500w power supply you should be ok. You would do good to upgrade to at least 2gig of RAM. Get another 1gig that matches the one you have, or get a 2gig kit.

Will i be able to play Battlefield 3 on Medium to Low settings

Here`s the link to the card it http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/product/a-t-i-diamond-ati-radeon-hd-5670-1gb-gddr5-pci-e-video-card-a5670pe51g/10144108.aspx?path=19d381156bc1d608d2f34f66f35346been02|||It will give you a moderate game play at very low settings. So for that money ($132.50) you are spending on the card you can take the following from www.newegg.com

Try to take this @ $115 ATI Radeon HD6770 (Better than HD5670)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

or this @ $150 ATI Radeon HD6850 (Better than HD6770)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

will give you a decent game play at moderate or medium settings of BF3.

You need not to upgrade your processor since its a quad core. You have not told us about the RAM which is a must for good game play. should have at least 4GB for a good game play.

The PSU, which is an important part for GPUs. try to take at least 550 / 600 watts good branded one, and see you have enough 6-pin or 8-pin connectors available.

If your above 500 Watts PSU is a branded one and have 2 6-pin or 8-pin connectors then no problems you can go along with it.|||The video card will run on your motherboard IF you have a 400+w power supply. Should play BF3 on low settings.

Take the X550 Radeon PCI-E Video card i out of the PCI-E slot and put in X1300 Radeon into a standard PCI slot

Can i take the X550 Radeon PCI-E video card i have out of the PCI-E slot and put in a X1300 PCI card into my standard PCI slot and if i do will i get better fps, refresh , etc|||Short answer, yes you can

Long answer, You probably shouldn't Pci-e is a new standard that has more bandwidth than a normal Pci slot. You would be going backwards. If you were going to upgrade I would change to a faster pci-e card.

Here are some good choices.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…|||If the PCI card is newer, since PCI-E is a newer type slot then the PCI slot, it should work better. I suggest you upgrade and purchase a video card that fits a PCI-E slot. The problem I have is that almost all computers are going to PCI-E, and dropping PCI. So even if you do go with the PCI card you will eventually have to upgrade anyway.|||I wouldnt recommend going with a PCI platform, because you will be dealling with really slow bus speeds. PCI-express is called such because of its very fast bus speeds. Id suggest anything from PCI-E if you can afford it. PCI-E bandwidth can be up to 16x that of PCI or AGP.|||You could take out your X550 from the PCI-e and put in an X1300 into the PCI slot but why???

The X1300 will be much slower when hampered by a PCI bus. The PCI bus is very slow compared to PCI-e (one other posted said PCI-e is 16x faster than AGP which is true, and AGP is faster than PCI.....PCI bus was slow 8 years ago for video)

Besides PCI-e video cards are cheaper than PCI video cards so why waste your money? A low end ATI X2400 would do better than an X1300 on PCI and an Nvidia 8600GT would blow away the X1300 and be about the same price.

Your call but I would stay away from PCI for sure.|||It won't fit into the slot, and it is not backwards compatible.

Can my computer run this video card?

I want to buy this video card : - HIS Radeon HD 4670 IceQ 1GB (128bit) DDR3 PCI-Express

But can my computer run it? My computer spec is like this :

Motherboard : Asrock Wolfdale1333-D667 R2.0

PSU : 500W

I would appreciate all the answers|||Yes!

http://www.asrock.com/MB/overview.asp?Model=Wolfdale1333-D667

Just make sure that if the video card requires a 6-pin power connector, your power supply must have one as well. Most PCI-E video cards require an additional power source.|||ive checked your motherboard up for you, im glad to say your computer can support that graphic card :)|||yes you can run the 4670....you have a PCIe slot to run it...that board also has integrated video....good if your gpu would go,you have that till ya get a new card...

http://www.asrock.com/MB/overview.asp?Mo…

the 4670 your gonna run is a nice card....

Scott|||Of course you can...lol

A GFX card is not limited by CPUs and motherboards. As long as you have a 450watt power supply and a PCI-Express slot, you're fine. :D

And Scott is so right. The onboard chipset will be a life saver if that thing fries (which it won't because HIS makes excellent quality and their ICE+Q's are top of the line). Myself, I have a 790FX motherboard with 4 PCI-E crossfire slots but no onboard video. If my XFX Radeon HD 4870 goes, I would be sunk if I didn't have my old Palit GeForce 8500 GT lying around...lol

What is a good agp video card?

I want to put a new video card in my dell dimension 4600. The motherboard does not have a pci express slot so, i'm stuck with agp cards.

I've been looking on ebay and it seems like some viable options are the ATI Radeon 1650

and the NVIDIA GeForce 7600

I'd like something with 512 MB of Ram|||The best one for AGP right now is the HD 3850 which i pricey.

A value choice would be the 7600gs which is about $30 cheaper on Tigerdirect.com

7600gs: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/…

HD 3850: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/…|||For $100 you can get an HD3650 512mb ddr3.

Is this video card Vista compatible and Is it good enough to run game?

This is the video card I have purchased and just want to know if it will work fine with a dual core computer with Vista.

ATI Radeon HD 3470 PCI-E Video Card 256MB GDDR3 MEMORY|||Most definately. That is a great card. But my 3870 is better!!!!|||yea u can, i don`t know why u would worry about that i got ati radeon 2600 HD pro and i`m running vista ultimate smooth with crysis, guitar hero 3 etc

Is this Radeon video card anygood?

Is the Radeon Powercolor X1550 PCI-E 256mb card anygood also does it have a VGA port and finally does it need a minimum amout or ram to run?|||Go ahead and save an extra $50 and get a 3870... Much better card.|||ATI Radeon video cards in general are pretty awesome. This one is a little older but should run really well. The 256mb will give you enough power to have good images even when gaming. It has a VGA port to hook up your computer and an S-Video port to hook up to a TV if you want to watch movies that you've downloaded. You will need at least 512mb of ram.|||I don't recommend ATI cards.

I had a Nvidia card for 3 years.

I blew it up by leaving my computer plugged up during a storm.

But after that I tried Ati and I could have swore my Nvidia card was fast and it was older than the Ati card.

Plus Nvidia sells processors and motherboards.

They are a Bigger more trusted company if you ask me.

I have visiontek radeon x300 pci-e video card with active heatsink. How fast can I overclock this GPU no fan?

There is not set amount, depends on the specific chip, and I don't mean model I mean the actual specific chip on your card. Watercooling will always help overclock better.|||I don't know for certain about your computer, but I have the exact same card and it did NOT take well to overclocking. Just citing personal experience, I would avoid it altogether.|||I would do 510/460...|||400/210, then it starts to have errors. i have one and it is stable at that speed using ati tool, with no fan. if you added a pci fan directly on it, im assuming you could get it to be stable at a little higher speed. seriously, though, its not a great card, for very little money you could get a better card.

Video card not recognized at boot pci-e slot?

my internal videocard crapped out on my ati radeon express 200 motherboard. I can turn off the internal video via BIOS. When I insert the video card into the pci-e slot the machine will not start the boot sequence. No action on the hard drive at all. ANy ideas what setting I may need to update in BIOS to get the PCI-e slot recognized? My power supply is plenty big at 430W... that was the first suggestion form the tech guy at the cpu store.

Thanks!|||There's no need to get into BIOS to get that internal video disabled. As far as I can see, it will automatically did that for you when you had a PCI-E graphic card inserted.

Besides, if the internal graphic were down, so will be the North-bridge chip-set. You see, internal graphic card does not have a chip of its own. The graphical part is glued into the north-bridge, which controls the memory, pci-express and talks to the south-bridge. If the graphical part was down, how can you be sure it didn't take out the memory / PCI-E function as well? I mean, they were in the same air-plane when the air-plane crashed.

Should you still don't want to acknowledge the fact that your motherboard have die, you can grab yourself a Debug card. (search Debug Card on Ebay you'll find it).

A Debug Card is basically a PCI card where you plug it into your motherboard. Soon as the PC switches on, it will carried on a series of Power-On-Self-Test (POST). The progress of the POST is shown on the debug card as LED letters and digits. With the letters and digits on where it stops, do a search on Google and you'll find which part of the POST (which hardware) it failed.

Note, some debug card also shows 3.3v, 5v and 12v at the same time. Should one of these LED fail, you know its the Power Supply.

BTW, I guess you didn't bring the PC to that Computer tech guy to carry out a check before you buy that Power Supply. Cause if you did, I will never go into that shop again.

... 430w... is that Antec Earthwatt 430 or Corsair CX430? So long as it isn't Cooler Master extreme 430 then that's fine.

Will a radeon 6850 video card fit on this motherboard? *link*?

motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

video card: http://www.amazon.com/Sapphire-DL-DVI-I-…

I know that it has a pci-e SLOT for the radeon 6850, but the radeon is HUGE, will it be able to actually FIT on that card without running into something else?? I really like this motherboard but I'm afraid the radeon won't fit?? any suggestions/info appreciated, thanks a lot!~|||Yes the card will fit on there fine. I have a standard ATX board and my 5850 which is about the same size (9.5 inches) does, but I could not fit a 5970 Radeon in there (12 inches) What you have to be concerned about is the size of your case and whether or not it will hit the hard drive bays/cage

So measure the length between the end of your case where the card will begin up until where the hard drive bays (or any other immobile obstruction begins)

Whether or not the card will fit in your case has very little to do with the motherboard|||The card will fit the mother board ...I have the same board..I was going to get a 6870 and know it will fit my case but I'm waiting for the 6900 series to come out supposedly by Dec. 13th I have a Coolermaster Centurion 5 case and the 6870 fits The CASE is the big limiting factor on what size card you can use (length wise). but even at that I could cut away part of an interfering drive bay with no ill effects...except I would have at least one less drive bay! If its a hard drive bay that is interfering with the install I can use the unused floppy bay!|||I don't think you'll have a problem getting it to fit. Long GPU's tend to crowd some stuff on the motherboard but almost never make it unusable. I'd just make sure what whatever case you have or are going to get has enough room for the GPU. But unless you have a short case you shouldn't have a problem with that either.

Question about my ati radeon 9250 video card?

Is it better to use one high quality video card or two average ones for gaming?

so one ATI Radeon HD 4890 1GB DDR5 PCI-Express Dual?

or two ATI Radeon HD 4830 PCI-E 16X 512MB Video Card?

Doesn't Dual mean that is technically two combined?

I am still learning. XD|||One 4890 will blow away two 4830's! The 4830 is DDR3 which is slower than the 4890. The 4890 shows excellent review results. If you do plan to go crossfire than you might wanna check if your psu has significant amount of juice to power 2 GPU's.|||I would go with the 4890.

The 4830 uses ddr3 ram and not ddr5.|||either one is finee|||One card will do you well. Only rich people get 2 cards, until they realize that it was basically useless.|||You can but it depends on the cards. Some average dual cards are better then one higher quality cards. Like two 4670s would be better then one 4850. If you put a 4830 into crossfire then i would say its kinda the same, but it depends if you have one 4830 already and are choosing between getting another one for crossfire or an 4890 then financially buying another 4830 would be better.

Does using a video card with HDMI rather than PCI make a difference for gaming?

The video card i got was a SAPPHIRE Vapor-X 100283VXL Radeon HD 5770 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

I plan on using an HDMI cable since it has an HDMI port but i was just curious if this will make a difference compared to using the PCI port when it comes to gaming, or does HDMI only effect things like movies and tv?|||Output of HDMI port is digital video plus audio. Output of DVI port is also digital video but NO audio. Output of VGA is ANALOG video only.

The card you bought has no VGA port, so would probably use a DVI to VGA adapter if you plan to use a VGA monitor. VGA resolution could be limited and may may not reach the high resolution that the card supports for digital output. Difference between digital and analog display is not so noticeable at low to moderate resolution.

How do I disable "Shared System Memory" for a PCI add-in video card? (ATI Radeon X1550 Pro)?

I recently bought a Diamond Stealth X1550 PRO video card to upgrade from the integrated graphics in my ultra-cheap HP desktop (no PCI Express or AGP slots.) The HP BIOS has no way of disabling the onboard video entirely, just making PCI 'primary'. In Windows (Vista Home Premium,) I can disable the onboard (Intel 910GL) graphics in the Device Manager. However, when I get the graphics card properties for the Radeon, it says "256 MB Dedicated Video Memory" and "255 MB Shared System Memory" for a total 511 MB "Total Available Graphics Memory".

As this card has 256 MB onboard, I don't want to over-saturate the PCI bus having the video card use up to 255 MB of main system memory. (My wireless network card is also on the PCI bus.) Is there any way in Vista to disable the "Shared System Memory"? I am running the latest (April 18, 2007, v7.4) version of the ATI Radeon X1000 series drivers and Catalyst Control Center, and cannot find such a setting anywhere.|||i dont think you can, and its not such a big deal

no game has been ever created that requirs more than

256 of onboard graphics memory so unless you running

CAD or modeling/rendering 3D software your card wont need to take from the system memory|||im guessing its in advanced display properties ... and unless ur short on ram i wouldnt worry about overloading the bus ...
