How do i know i need more power to support my video card??

I have a compaq presario sr1222nx that i bought in 2004, i am about to put an ATI Radeon 9000 256mb PCI video card in it and i heard through the grapevine (here) that sometimes you have to get a better supply of power too. my question is will i need one? and how will i know i will need one?|||the video card you are installing does not need extra power

those are PCIexpress cards

since you are not running vista on this unit you'll be ok with the upgrade also remeber to turn off the onboard video in the bios

the 9000 does not work in vista PERIOD

but will work good in xp not a gaming card so as long as you are doing basic websurfing you enjoy the smoothness

and the odd low graphic video will play adiquately|||it normally says on th box

if not

use a psu calculator
