What is the difference in interface types for a video card?

I am trying to play computer games on my HD tv and am looking for a new video card. I am looking at ATI Radeon cards. What is the difference in the AGP 8x and PCI Express 16x bus types. And how do I know which I need?|||AGP is an old standard for graphics cards, and is slower than the newer PCI Express one. All you need to know to buy your graphics card is:

- Which of these standards your computer's motherboard supports.

- Which ports does the graphics card has, in order to be able to connect them to the HDTV.

- If your HDTV has a video input port that allows you to connect the computer to it, like S-video for instance.

After knowing all of these, you'll just have to buy the new card, install it along with it's latest drivers, and connect the TV.|||You don't necessarily have to open the computer to find out this specifications, just take a look at the motherboard's manual, but for changing the graphics cards it's unavoidable, though.

|||The slot types are different and NOT compatible. You cannot put an AGP card into a PCIExpress slot, and you cannot put a PCIExpress card into an AGP slot. They are physically different and will not even fit.

You need to open up your computer and see which slot system you have, so you don't buy the wrong card.|||Agp are usually brown and the pci express are blue
