Radeon vs GeForce video card?

I recently had a PnY Geforce 7300gt ddr2 256 MB PCI-e, and it ran wow raids at like 8-12 FPS with the lowest setings, the fan was going bad or something so i bought a EVGA GeForce 210 1024mb ddr3 and i put it in and their was like NO improvment at all ran raids at leik 10-12 FPS at the lowest settings, so i was looking and i have come to 2 differnt video cards to get XFX Radeon HD 5670 PCI Express 1GB DDR5 vs PNY GeForce GTS 450 PCI-E 1GB DDR5. I will be upgrading from 2G ddr2 ram 667MHz to 4 G's or 4G's of the 800 MHz ram after i get one of these 2 cards, I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit and i have a 430W t2 thermatake powersupply, and amd athlon 64 x2 4000 processor., The main 3 things i want this video card for is, running wow at Ultra setting in raid with 50-60 FPS and using it with my TV to watch 3d movie's at 1080P on blu-ray. thx let me know what i shoudl get.|||K well there are many reasons why the most important is that the control Panel for geforce cards have an optimizer for balance and performance or both make sure its on performance.Second u said PCIE if its x16 and not the 2.0 or 2.1 the motherboard sot for graphics will be bottle necked which means no matter what card u get like the 580 the other guy suggested will not run to its full potential because the x16 has a speed cap the card will only run as fast as the motherboard will let it also since Cata the Graphics has been updated alot so which means Cata is more optimized for vista and Win7 which have directx 10 or above so ur os has alot to do with it as well.Like my Pc i have a dual core amd 5200 with 4gigs ddr2 ram and a 6800gtx before Cata i was getting 60fps now im lucky to get 12. Since i updated the OS i now get 20 now this s questing not raiding raiding i got 4 before now 10.After i bout the 570 geforce i went to 30fps Pretty good after i changed motherboards with a 2.0 slot i now get 60maxed out and everything on. Just a little of what i went through hope this helped.

Well a newer Motherboard will help alot for 3D movies and games the more speed the better the performance but im Pretty sure directx 9 is not 3D enabled which is what xp sp3 is,. Don't get me wrong with the current slot u have u can get 60 fps but ur going to spend some money. But if u want 3D i would update the OS and Motherboard and im a Geforce fan myself the Radon's are not made by AMD anymore so i have heard they went downhill a little bit haven't used one myself. But as far as if u just want FPS and maxed out graphics an updated OS will do it with a high end card..But if ur wanting the best performance u can get with less stress on the MB I would update MB and depending on how much ram u have maybe that and OS. And what ever card u would like the 580 is pricey the 570 looks just as good and is cheapier but both the 580 and the 570 are loud cards and from what i have read tend to run hot. They both have vent out so less heat in the tower. You also might wanna look at ur power supply can it handle ur PC and any upgrades just a thought.|||Upgraded ram for 3D games will get a noticeable boost in performance. However, you want all of the Memory to be about equal (ie. If you have 2 2GB sticks would see a increase in performance over 1 4GB stick). Make sure your motherboard can handle the memory upgrade. If your not sure, use this tool to help find out: http://www.crucial.com/systemscanner/ind…

Without knowing anything else with the system, i would advise checking to see if the new graphics card would fit inside your existing case. Also, I would advise upgrading the power supply. Try shooting for something in the 500 watt range.

One thing to note, once you go above 30FPS, you'll hardly see any difference in performance. If you really want to push it to that level, I suggest the GTX 580: http://www.maximumpc.com/article/feature… It will blow everything out of the water for the next 3 years. It has been crowned the champion in terms of graphics cards, is more efficient, and is "future proof" meaning you won't need to upgrade the things for many many years to come.
